Mech-Q Overview & Input
Configure Settings And Input Fittings
The video serves as an introduction to the Mech-Q interface and provides an intro guide on how to configure settings and input fittings into drawings. We highlight the main modules (Piping, Ducting, Mechanical, and General Utilities) and explain how to navigate their dialogs and tools.
We’ll also briefly explain the workspace and layers, using directional distance input and accurately inserting and configuring fittings. Lastly, we’ll demonstrate how to use key interface elements like dynamic input, object snaps, and toolbars to streamline the drawing process.
Overview
Main Points
- Overview of Mech-Q Modules:
- Modules include Piping, Ducting, Mechanical, and General Utilities.
- Each module has a main dialog and specific settings.
- Configuration Settings:
- Users should configure units, layers, and drawing scales before starting.
- Drawing Scale: Set to
DIMSCALE
in AutoCAD to manage text and dimension sizes.
- Basic Setup for Drawing:
- Turn on Ortho Mode for straight-line drawing.
- Configure Object Snap (OSNAP) settings for accurate drawing, such as enabling Endpoint, Perpendicular, and Midpoint snaps.
- Layer Management:
- Layers can be customized with specific names and colors in the configuration settings.
- Directional Distance Input:
- Explains how to use direct input for specifying direction and distance when drawing elements like pipes or fittings.
- Dialog Tools and Insert Points:
- Dialogs provide clickable icons for inserting objects like pipes or steel shapes.
- Insert points determine where the object is placed in the drawing.
- Rotation and Placement:
- Objects can be rotated and placed using insert points and command-line input.
- Command Line at Cursor:
- Recommended to turn on “Dynamic Mode” (
DynMode = 3
) for a more streamlined workflow with the command line at the cursor.
